There’s been a lot that has happened since I last posted, but let me sum up quickly. I was in Summer Classes (fall classes start up in September) I am now in Washington DC, living on my own. I saw Green Knight and am juggling several books.
Here’s a list of the following books I am reading
Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire
Street Cop by Robert Coover (illus. by Art Spiegelman)
A Silent Fury by Yuri Herrera
The Dangers of Smoking in Bed by Mariana Enriquez
The Mongolian Conspiracy by Rafael Bernal
and I just picked up two more books cause I lack willpower:
Strange Beasts of China by Yan Ge
The Thousand Crimes of Ming Tsu by Tom Lin
I don’t know how many I’ll read but I expect to at least finish Herrera’s book tonight (I don’t have a Television yet). It’s a short read and like all his books it’s a masterpiece. Herrera is one of those writers that’s a must-read, I think.
Now that I am on a regular schedule I intend to post more on this, I’ll try to make it a regular occurrence. I have some longer thoughts, but I am trying to ease back into this and not “empty the well” of future ideas, but I do want to write something about Green Knight (which I saw two nights ago) but I am still gathering some thoughts on it. I also am in theory committed to writing some things for other publications…so all this is to say The Bearded Jellyfish is very much alive again.
